“Run for Your Life” has been nominated for a New York Emmy for Best Documentary. My profile photograph of race director, the late Fred Lebow, appears on the dvd cover and in the movie. If it wins in April do I get an Emmy also?

This photo appears on the “Last Shot” page of Litchfield Magazine’s March-April issue. Caption reads, Photographer Leo Kulinski, Jr., was standing outside the Activity shed at the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield. “Inside were about 50 bags of birdseed waiting to be picked up by customers” he says. “This little guy must have gotten wind of it, strolled through the front door and emerged five minutes later–one satisfied customer.” Click on photograph to see a larger image.

Adult Museum Sleep-In at the White Memorial Conservation Center

The first museum sleep-in for adults was held Friday night through Saturday morning at the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, Ct. Celebrating the life and times of conservationist Aldo Leopold the event featured readings by noted essayist, poet and lecturer David Leff, a night walk and morning mammal tracking walk led by White Memorial’s Research Director Jamie Fischer, and a Porcupine Program with White Memorial’s Director of Administration and Development Gerri Griswold and her friend Pacer. Also in attendance was Mary Moulton, Connecticut State Coordinator, The Leopold Education Project. Gerri prepared a wonderful dinner and breakfast for us. Participants were asked to bring an item which represented “conservation” to them. The items were placed in a “pop-up” museum, a short term exhibit displaying the objects we brought. The event ended with a “Conservation Conversation” centered around the items. Many thanks to Jeff Greenwood, Jamie and Gerri for the work they put in organizing the event. Spent a wonderful evening at Studio 59 www.studio59ct.com in Torrington, CT listening to the sounds of Chrissy Gardner and Robert Messore. If you’ve never been to Studio 59 I recommend it highly. To quote the Studio 59 website “Owner and founder Timothy Alexandre Wallace has transformed this quaint old church into a setting reminiscent of an Eighteenth Century European drawing room, complete with comfortable wing-back and parlor chairs. The centerpiece is a magnificent German Steinway concert grand piano with a breathtakingly rich and clear sound.” The acoustics are excellent. Click on the photographs to see a larger version.

The Waxing Gibbous Moon, 69% illuminated. The prominent crater about halfway up the sunrise line is the Crater Copernicus, some 58 miles across. I took this from my front yard with a Celestron 5 telescope. Click photo for a larger version.

Owners Lori and Ernie Barker at last nights grand opening of “The Artists’ Path”, http://artistspath.homestead.com/index.html Located at 583C, Bantam Road, Litchfield, CT in The Cove on Route 202. The Artists’s Path is a “Gallery of local art, Sculpture, Selective new and used booksand a gathering place for workshops,meditation and lectures.”

Next door to the Artists’s path is Love heart’s Bakery owned by Ernie and Lori’s daughter Allison.
